Next Steps Mentor
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
To come alongside the men at David’s Courage as they work on their recovery and explore their faith. We seek to be a friend and support, in what can be a very lonely time of facing fears, realities, and new growth.
We invite men who demonstrate a passion for personal growth as well as serving at David’s Courage. Once you have completed the equipping, we match you with someone.
We offer a New Mentor Orientation the first Tuesday of each month at David’s Courage at 6:30 p.m. RSVP if you intend to join us. We also gather that first Tuesday of each month at 7:15 p.m. at David’s Courage for a time of continued equipping and encouragement in your service.
Role of a Mentor
-Meet 1-on-1 once every 7-14 days with one of our residents during their stay in our program at David’s Courage.
-Build a relationship through getting to know one another, share in conversation over a meal or cup of coffee at David’s Courage. You are welcome to join us for a meal anytime.
-Offer encouragement as our men explore their faith and develop a personal devotional life.
-Pray with our men and for them.
What if I don’t have the answers?
What if I have never struggled with drug or alcohol addiction?
What if I am in recovery as well and still learning?
What if I still have questions about faith and God and need guidance?
What if I am more of a listener than a teacher?
What if the idea of being a David’s Courage mentor makes me nervous?
The short answer is GREAT!!!!!!
The long answer is GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!!!!
We are not looking for men who have it all figured out. We are looking for cracked vessels who will come alongside what God is doing in the lives of men at David’s Courage.
